Case Study · Custom Ordering Platform
A fully custom, live ordering platform for a micro-bakery in Tucker, Georgia. It handles two types of customer orders, automates weekly standing orders by text message, manages an email newsletter, and gives the owner a private dashboard to run everything, with no third-party apps and no monthly subscription.
The Customer Experience
First-time visitors land on a home page that explains exactly how ordering works, then choose the path that fits: weekly pickup or custom delivery. An FAQ, contact page, and terms page round out the customer-facing site, all mobile-friendly.
Weekly pickup orders, submitted over the weekend and collected on Fridays. Cupcakes by the dozen or half-dozen, and cake jars in two sizes across six signature flavors.
Custom baked goods delivered to ten schools in the Lakeside High School cluster of DeKalb County, a delivery zone the owner manages herself from the admin panel.
Live Order Form
Customers tap items into a live order summary that totals as they go. No cart, no checkout maze. A capacity tracker shows how many dozen are still available this week, so the owner never over-commits her oven.
When she hits her limit, takes a vacation, or blocks a holiday week, the form automatically shows a closed message she writes herself. Pricing, capacity, and availability are all managed from the admin panel. No code changes, ever.

The Back Office
Behind a password-protected admin page, the owner gets a complete operations center: a weekly snapshot, a full order calendar, filterable order tables with bulk status updates, customer order histories, and one-click CSV exports.
Reporting charts show best-selling flavors, busiest schools, and revenue trends. A built-in email tab sends the weekly menu drop to newsletter subscribers, with scheduling, recipient filtering, and live preview. Everything she can change lives in Settings: prices, capacity limits, school list, open/close toggles, and blocked vacation dates.
Every order, delivery, and blocked date on one monthly view. Click any day for details.
Orders by flavor, school, and date, plus revenue summaries and CSV export.
Weekly menu drops with recipient filters, scheduling, and campaign history built in.
Prices, capacity, schools, closed messages, and date blocks. Zero code changes needed.
The Signature Feature
Loyal customers check one box, "Make this a standing weekly order," and from then on, their order processes automatically every Thursday at 9:00 AM. They manage everything by text message. The owner does nothing.
The system checks for blocked weeks, creates an order for every active standing customer, and texts each one a confirmation.
SKIP pauses one week. STOP cancels for good. The system handles both automatically. No action needed from the owner.
The Standing Orders tab shows every active subscriber, their items, and a guaranteed weekly revenue figure the owner can plan around.
Automated Communication
When an order comes in
The owner receives a full order detail email; the customer gets an instant acknowledgment that their request was received.
When the owner confirms
A confirmation email goes out with order details, payment instructions, and pickup or delivery information.
Every week
Newsletter subscribers receive the weekly menu, written and scheduled from the admin Email tab.
The Result
The platform shipped with a simple weekly routine. Watch how little of it the owner actually has to do by hand.
Under the Hood
The platform runs on Google Firebase: hosting, real-time database, and the scheduled cloud functions that process standing orders every Thursday. SendGrid delivers email, Twilio powers the two-way SMS, and the whole system runs with no monthly software subscription.
